March 5th, 2011 — Odds & Ends & Updates
On Saturday, 26 March 2011 the Dunmore Historical Society will hold a General Meeting at our new home at 126 Barton Street. Guest speaker will be Ms Julie Esty appearing as “The Civil War Lady” in a presentation on civilian life during the Civil War featuring clothing, books, toys, utensils etc. of the period.
The meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Julie has appeared throughout the area educating and entertaining all who have the pleasure of experiencing the “Civil War Lady.” The presentation is appropriate for all ages and has sparked an interest in the Civil War time period for many in attendance.
The interactive presentation engages the audience as the “Civil War Lady” displays newspapers, toys and other personal items used by families during the turbulent times of the War between the North and South. The audience is invited to participate by experiencing the artifacts first hand and asking questions that come to mind. The topics include, but are not limited to, the lives of the men, women, and children of the time.
This is one special presentation that anyone interested in our history would not want to miss.
RSVP Please… If you are planning to attend please let us know by calling Salvatore W. Mecca at 570-344-0946 or email at dunmorehistorical@gmail.com
