Special Guided Church Tour and Luncheon

Join us on Wednesday morning, June 20 at 8:50 a.m. in the parking lot of the Dunmore Presbyterian Church. At 9 a.m. the Trolley car will deliver us to the Dunmore United Methodist Church on South Blakely Street where Reverend Philip Wanck will serve as our guide on a tour of his church. There is an elevator available to visiting all three floors of the church.

Next, the Trolley will take us up East Drinker Street to the Temple of Israel where Isadore Steckl and his friends will welcome us to their orthodox Jewish Synagogue.

Then Reverend Ken Forkes will serve as our host at the Dunmore Presbyterian Church tour after which lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall of that church.

Seating in the trolley is limited so reservations are a must. Donation is $12. For reservations call Miss Mary T. Connolly at 941-0345. Please make all checks payable to the Dunmore Historical Society and mail to 1532 Quincy Avenue, Dunmore, PA, 18509. This fall we will arrange another mini tour of the remaining churches open in Dunmore.

June 2nd — Roosey’s Shuffleboard Tournament — Start time: 1pm.
June 2/3 Forest Hills Cemetery Walking Tour, 1 P.M. 346-6179
June 9th — Honeychild’s Tournament – Start time: to be announced.
June 16 – Dunmore Cemetery Intimate Walking Tour – RSVP 344-3819
July 14th — Second Tavern Tour/Pub Crawl — Start time: to be announced.
August 5th — Sesquicentennial Motorcycle Poker Run – Start time and details: to be announced.
August 16,17,18 – DUNMORE’S 150TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!!
START TIME: 5:00 P.M. ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. 12:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY.
PLACE: SHERWOOD PARK
THERE WILL BE FIREWORKS SATURDAY NIGHT AS A GRAND FINALE!!

September 27th: Dunmore Historical Society’s Pasta Dinner
October 7th and October 14 — The Dearly Departed Players present The Dunmore Cemetery Tour –Start time: 2:00 P.M.
October 7th – Dunmore Historical Society’s Dinner with the Dearly. Departed 4:30 – 7pm.
December: Dunmore Historical Society’s A Christmas Miscellany: Date TBD

Come One, Come All!

Join The Christmas Miscellany!

The Dearly Departed Players will present A Christmas Miscellany at the Dunmore Historical at our location on 126 Barton Street. The event will take place on December 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free. The Dearly Departed Players will be performing a few classic holiday readings, a few first person portrayals. Some will be serious — some will have some laughs. Refreshments will be served and Santa will be there to meet the kids. So bring along the family and enjoy all the Holiday Festivities.

2nd Annual Harvest Dinner: Cancelled

It is with regret that we have to cancel this year’s annual Harvest Dinner. Quite simply, we have not had the volunteers in order to make this event a success, and one worthy of what you would have expected. While we’ll miss the opportunity to socialize with you, we felt it more important to utilize our volunteer time with focus on our historic mission. Look for our Annual Holiday Program in December which will combine both – celebrating our history with our friends, neighbors, and supporters.
